The journey continues...

Yay birthdayssss

Today was another volunteer Sarah's birthday. I had big plans for this and had even bought her a card before I left for the weekend but after getting back late last night and my purse going missing at the weekend I totally forgot about the birthday today. It was Sirlis, one of the younger volunteers who had to remind me when she arrived and then everyone wished Sarah a Happy Birthday. But we weren't able to have a party which sucked. During the break I bought her our usual papa and coca cola and then at the lunchtime meeting we began on the margaritas :)

The afternoon classes were better today than the morning classes mainly because the attendance has been so poor in fundadores and also because I had all the younger kids making birthday cards for Sarah so it was a fun class. The last 10 minutes was a mini party with some cola and biscuits.

We have 2 new volunteers: Brie and Kris and they're both staying at The Dreamer hostel which is cool. This also meant that we were all able to go together to La Brisa Loca for Sarah's birthday drinks alongwith another traveller we picked up as he was checking into the hostel. The drinks were fun as we waited for Arny to finish working at the bar. He makes his very own special margarita which has a funny story behind it as it turns out a bright blue colour instead of green and although it's a sort of average drink it has become incredibly popular!

When he finished we all headed to La Puerta, the main/only good club in Santa Marta. It's really quirky and has a similar layout to a house with sectioned off rooms and a garden. What I like most about it is that it doesn't have a roof and so you're literally dancing under the stars. The music was very latiny and the dancefloor was packed. But I can only stand regaeton/salsa type music and dancing for so long so after our crowd started disappearing Brie and I grabbed a taxi back to the hostel at around 2.
