Pont du Gard.
A rest day after our efforts on Mont Ventoux yesterday and thankfully no howling gale in our faces in temperatures approaching freezing. This was the Provence most tourists see.
Avignon was already in full summer holiday mode but the Pont du Gard was curiously quiet. We entered what is now a large visitor attraction, via a deliveries route and were able to cycle over the bridge and through the restaurant at the far side unmolested. Further proof that the best way to travel through France is by bike.
Our bed for the night was in Nimes so a chance to revisit the Roman Amphitheatre where Lynda and I spent 3 hrs waiting for Lindsay in 1981. He never did appear, but that's another story.
Tomorrow another big day I am told - 150+km and very lumpy. Time for an early night then.
