Tureen time!
We traveled to Yixing last week and it was a great trip minus the bus trouble. Prior to the trip I was just working on bottles and tea bowls and such, nothing to complicated. I was still a little intimidated by the clay. Everyone had talked about how bad it was since before we made it to China. I will admit, it's not the easiest clay to work with, but it's also not the worst. It's porcelain, and porcelain is a pain, but it's not impossible. When we returned I was determined to start working on some more interesting pieces. I wanted to get back to making my tureens that I started making at the end of the Spring semester. As much as I love to throw and trim, I also and starting to really enjoy working with my pots off of the wheel - altering and adding to them. Nothing to crazy though. I really like making my "frilly" pots. I have to say that it's nice to get back to work.
