Feeding Time
I'm sure weaning isn't supposed to go like this. There are probably a million and one far better choices for first foods. But, we were eating. We had eggy bread (french toast), and then because Ben refused the toast and requested pancakes, we had pancakes. So Charley tried the eggy bread and had fun squashing that around and tasting it, and then he had some pieces of pancake as well - bits torn off before I'd slathered the rest in nutella!
Church this morning. We got there on time, stayed in for the praise and worship, Ben went off to Sparklers and I took Charley off to creche. Charley joined in with snack time and gummed a mini breadstick to death before discarding it, and when I went to collect Ben I looked around at all the kids dancing around and couldn't see him. Eventually I spotted him, at the table colouring! Ben rarely does colouring but there he was, asking for help! I went and sat with him while he coloured in (I suspect there has been some encouragement to colour within the lines, ah well, we have all week to break that one down again hehehe) but he quickly declared that I had to do it and he had to go and dance.
Home for lunch with some typical Ben-ness on the way home, couldn't ride his bike, had to hold my hand, several tiredness-induced meltdowns over jumping over cracks in the pavement and me and Steve being on the wrong sides of the path. Very quiet afternoon, Ben yawning, early tea for him and straight to bed for both boys. Steve out to a prayer meeting, and then I got to do some artwork!! Very very pleased with result, there will be a link to the finished piece tomorrow. So pleased that Steve came home with a fresh Sharpie when he did, the one I'd been using ran out after a few words!
While I was in bed with the boys I did a lot of thinking. I did a lot today while Steve spent time with the boys. I just did stuff. And realised that I'd been such a Martha, and although all the housework did need doing, it meant that I was neglecting my relationships with my boys and with my husband.
