Car car car car car. Trouble :-(
So sang Adam Ant. And he was right :-(
A couple of days ago a "potential engine malfunction" light came up on my dashboard. I rang my local garage, and they said they couldn't do anything as it needed a Jaguar garage with the appropriate computer.
So I found one reasonably close to where I work, and took it in this morning. When I rang a couple of days ago, they were very nice and very reassuring. "Not to worry sir if it's only an amber light. Keep on driving it will be fine ...."
On taking the car in this morning, I had my first call from the garage at about 9.30 to say that it was something called an Exhaust something recirculation valve thing needed replacing, and would cost about £400. "No worries", I said. " Please can you also squeeeze a service in whilst you've got the car?" "Certainly sir".
Next call half an hour later. "Just looked at your tyres sir. They are probably legal today, but they won't be on Monday". "OK - please can you fit 4 new tyres".
Next call half an hour later. "We've taken the wheels off, and your rear brake discs and pads need replacing. £300". "OK - lets forget the service".
Next call half an hour later. "We've taken the brake discs off, and you've got a caliper that is leaking brake fluid. £250, but we cant get one delivered today, so we'll need to keep your car until Tuesday".
So - the bus it was :-(
