Intruder Alert

James told me so. The deer netting with bricks at the bottom was not enough to protect my garden from intruders.

Deer knocked down the netting in 1 bedl They ate all of our melons (watermelon & cantaloupe), all of our red tomatoes, & they left their #2 calling card so that there was no doubt as the species identity. They left the Rosemary, Jalapenos, and Basil untouched.

In the next bed, I put bricks around the bottom to keep out the smaller vermin who were munching on my chard, lettuce, and cilantro earlier in the summer. That seemed to do the trick, until my squash started to disappear. I came to harvest a crookneck squash & green pepper today. But the squash was missing, the green pepper had been partially eating, and our sole pumpkin is scarred for life.

Lesson learned.
