Amarillo!
Another late night but I felt so much better than yesterday. The schools both passed really quickly today because we had something exciting to look forward to this weekend and I couldn't wait for the classes to finish and to get the bus!
I came back to the hostel during lunch as I had to give Jay back the money she lent me last night. For some reason my cards conveniently didn't work and so that didn't really go to plan. Jay, Daniella and Jack were leaving to Tayrona park today and the other guys were moving on to the party hostel in the city centre so I said bye to everyone before catching a taxi into town and meeting the others to go to Oasis.
Sarah and I left right on time after school as we were meeting Arny and the rest of the group at The Brisa Loca. I tried lifting money in town but couldn't manage to and ended up having to lend money from Sarah. Things like this always seem to happen at the worse of times! But anyways we commenced our weekend break and went to purchase some cheap alcohol before finding the bus to Palomino surprisingly easy. I love it when things go to plan!
A few hours later and we arrived in Palomino. Sarah was the only one who knew the directions and so we left her in control and ventured into the dark in search of our hostel. It was quite a spectacular 15minute walk really as it was pitch black with no lights apart from the head torch which someone in our group had brought. This made the walk though as there were so many fire flies which filled the sky and lit it up, I have never seen anything like it and they wouldn't have looked half as good if it wasn't so dark. Added to that were the strange noises of the night. One thing was sure that there were a lot of bugs, insects and other nasty creatures in close proximity :/ Coming to the end of our walk and as we approached the beach we walked past a sign warning of the forest wildlife so I'm glad we didn't come across anything too scary.
A few hundred metres down the beach and we actually walked past our reserved accomodation and reached the next one. It was a random night as the couple working in our hostel knew the couple we were travelling with through working together in Peru, Arny met a guy he knew from the hostel and I ran into a guy I had met the night before. The whole crowd together, and the fresh pineapple juice with vodka, made a very enjoyable night and I happily passed out on a hammock under a beautiful sunrise. It was a kind of surreal moment as I moved from the beach to my hammock half asleep and seen the biggest and most beautiful crab I have ever seen scuttering around underneath us.
