ELVES, BLOODY ELVES

The health and safety elves must have been about during the night. These gorgeous, beautiful, yes I know, steep steps, but that's the way they were built years ago down to the canal towpath, have been "safety painted" white on the edges. What happened to commonsense, looking where you walked, not looking for an opportunity at every step for an insurance claim. I have hauled myself up those steps from the car park, and carefully stepped back down them, many many times without incident.

But now they, the ancient steps to the canal, have been desecrated with rough white lines of paint.

They'll still sue you know .......

I have been Googling to try to find out the age of the steps though with no result yet. But I've got a bee in my bonnet about it now!
