Empty Streets

Today is "Day of the Worker" holiday in Mexico, so our beaches are full and the main street downtown is empty. It is empty because traffic cops are stationed at both ends of town, as well as many of the feeder streets, to divert traffic. Of course, in true Mexican fashion, some cars are able to talk/bully/disregard their way through the guys with the whistles and get to where they want to go with no detour. Most of the time, however, our main street, usually choked curb to curb with traffic of all description, is safe to walk like any pedestrian mall back in the United States.
