Change in the weather

Today the weather turned warm. The change began last night after quite a few days (I lost count) stuck in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Today it inched up to 70 or so. Warm enough that I didn't need a jacket, let alone a hat or handwarmers. Viva la change! The birds liked it too. I got some good shots of the red-bellied woodpecker and the downy, that I posted on my blog, but today's blip star has to be this redwing blackbird. Hope you like him!

Over lunch hour, we made a trip to the feed store because our bird feeders needed replenishing. I also picked up some meal worms, which I have never used before, and a platform feeder, anticipating the appearance of some Eastern bluebirds and other beautiful songbirds. Five or six hours went by and I didn't see a single bird at the new feeder; then I glanced out and was astonished to see a squirrel sitting square in the middle of the bird seed and meal worms, stuffing his face. Any suggestions for squirrel control?
