The IMMA

Interesting day today but the inability to get through to Blipland until now, almost 10.30pm has left me way behing with commenting. It's not that communications have been slow. More like non existent. I've only just now accomplished contact with the site.
We travelled to Dublin and the Irish Museum of Modern Art in order to see a very interesting exhibition of photography. A hundred or so prints all owned by The Bank of America, the work spanned from the 1860's to the present day. Steiglitz, Weston, Julia Margaret Cameron, Mohaly-Nagy and so many others. Well worth seeing even if the more recent work (mostly by American photographers) was a bit insipid when compared to the better black and white work from long ago.
The building, which is the old Royal Hospital for soldiers, is under major remedial work right now and the majority of it is currently closed to the public. The bookstore and the restaurant down in the basement are still open though and on the way down there I was smitten by this window. OK so I have bumped up the contrast somewhat but only in an effort to make the photo a little grittier than it actually was. Now, away with me to see how many comments I can do before bed time. Early start in the morning. First call is at 9am and it's 45kms away (nearly 30miles)
