Another Languedoc year...

Glycine?

On the way back from walking the dogs in the vineyard I spotted a tree I hadn't noticed before. At first I thought it was dripping with massive catkins, but closer inspection revealed these beautiful flowers. The fragrance knocked me off my feet - like bubble-gum on overdrive.

I wondered if it was a white wisteria but it was a tree, not a climber. There are two of these trees in the wild, next to a vineyard, beside the river.

A bit of Googletime later I discovered that they are Black Locust trres, or False Acacia - properly named Robinia pseudoacacia.

Now I'd definitely like one or two of those in the new garden. The bees were having a field day.
