Life, Universe & Not Much

My new toy!

I don't really go for sweets, so I chose my new (Monday) toy instead, and it is 'sweet'. But as I only have one (!) I had to shoot it with the GH2 and 14-140mm lens. Of course this shot does not indicate just how small it is - I'm posting a shot of it alongside the Pen E-P3 with EVF in my 'Photo Diary' - see my web page for a link to that; if anything the E-M5 is smaller. The 12-50mm lens on the E-M5 is surprisingly large considering the limited zoom range and the fact that it is quite a slow lens, but the optional power zoom, macro option, the fact that it does not change in size when you zoom or focus, and the extra control button (I have assigned it to DOF preview) mitigate for this, and with the Pana 45-200 lens it makes for quite a compact kit, with a nice overlap in the focal lengths. The alternative which I will often go for though is just to use the Olympus 14-150mm, which loses a little at both ends compared with the 2-lens kit, but is more convenient, and meets most needs, though it is a bit bigger than just the 12-50mm.
