Day 7 - Williamstown, MA to Providence, RI

Left the Maple Terrace Motel in Williamstown, had a quick look around the Main Street and bought our traditional fridge magnet (one from each place!) and headed south-east towards Providence, Rhode Island. Another scenic drive took us first to Northampton, another college town, where we had a big brunch and a walk around.

Then it was onto the Interstate towards Providence, our next stop for two nights. A bit of luxury this time in the form of the Renaissance Hotel, formerly a derelict Masonic temple - huge King Bed and an even bigger bathroom. Very swanky and well worth the extra pennies (or cents?). After bed and breakfasts and motels it's a nice change. It's opposite the impressive State Capitol building seen here - our second of the trip! We'll tour it tomorrow.

Crashed the mall in Providence for some more shopping, ticking off the final things that we both wanted (trainers for moi, umpteen cosmetics for Mrs DP from Sephora, her favourite shop). Dinner in the Cheesecake Factory as we were too tired to find anywhere in the guidebook / bible. Saying that it is a US tradition that we visit it. Got two slabs of cheesecake to take away, so that's coming up with a cup of coffee in our room. (I'm in the business centre now - bizarrely you get charged for wireless in your room but not here down in the depths of the hotel).
