Ancient Bridge, Carron Glen

This morning we took ourselves off up Carron Glen on a bluebell hunt. We did find loads but I do not think they are fully out as yet. They are also difficult to capture decently in a photo without resorting to artificial enhancements.
MaggieD did manage it though.
I spotted this old bridge of indeterminate age on the far bank, taking a track across a tributary stream. It did make me wonder about the original purpose. Was it on an old drove road and did thousands of wee long-horned highland coos cross it on their way too and from the various fairs and markets. Maybe a private road to a big house and horse-drawn carriages and coaches once took the wealthy and influential up to lavish dinners and evening parties.
It does now look as if it might be a setting from a Lord of the Rings scene with some good guy defending the bridge against an evil horde.
Stop it JD, your dreaming again!
