Why hello
This little punky looking gal was hanging out the font of work today, and was kind enough to let me get all up in her/his face. I always assume that ladybirds are girls.
The connotations of ladybirds are great, not only are they the subject of a great (children's) book that introduces that ever present emotion 'anger' in a really cool way, it is also a great publisher of equally cool books.
I toyed with the idea of a little homage tattoo of the Ladybird logo, along with Penguin logo, my equal favourite book gang - their design and ethos is just lovely, and they were the first to publish the oh so naughty D H Lawrence in England in 1960. To think there was a time that the F word could result in a book being banned! What they would have thought of Easterenders I dread to think!!
Ladybirds are regarded as omens of good luck across the world, with the powers of weather divination (why they didn't just look out the window I do not know), as well as helping with identifying one's future love as some of their skills. What a CV hey.
This one just gave it her/his best Bono and basked in the sun, so who knows what the forecast, weather or love wise, might be!!!
