LOKTAK LAKE

Greatest freshwater lake in the North-Eastern India located in Manipur undergoing rigorous rehabilitation by clearing away as much floating peat called "Phumdi" as possible and implementing schemes to vacate encroachers in and around the lake.

The early batch of monsoon round could not yet clear away all the pollutants in the atmosphere resulting from the burning of the vegetations in the hills for the purpose of cultivation in the hills (jhuming) by the hillmen. The smokes and other particles stuck and stuck for a long period. It'll need more rains to bring out the crystal clear blue skies again.
