Helter-skelter

The aftermath!

We promised our kids that they can have birthday parties every other year, if they accept that on those years they won't get lots of presents from us. Although my son's birthday was last Wednesday, his party was today.

It's not really feasible to have a party at home as there's nowhere for anyone to park so I decided on bowling followed by MacDonald's, as I've been to parties like that before and the kids seem to enjoy them.

You can imagine my delight when my husband told me a couple of weeks ago that he'd be away (hrmph). I was panicking a bit about how I'd cope but thanks to some great helpers I think it went pretty well. I really need to give a special commendation to the MacDonald's staff, who not only reserved us tables exactly as requested but served up 16 Happy Meals - and other associated items - in record time and perfectly to order.

My son got lots of lovely presents, lucky boy! My daughter is now helping him put together some new Lego things and I'm about to crash out on the sofa...

PS. Almost forgot to say 'Happy Birthday' to the Queen! :-)
