Clinging-on
I am always delighted to find evidence of life sustaining itself in the most unpromising locations. On my office wall, I had a set of five photographs taken near the Arctic Circle of tiny yellow flowers, growing in inert sand on a cold, windswept beach facing towards the North Pole. For me they symbolised triumph in adversity.
These trees aren't having quite the same struggle to survive but are admirable nevertheless.
