Waking in the middle of a cold moon
The intoxicating sleep won't return soon
Finding herself shaken and confused
The man in the moon is ever amused
But the stars always laugh last
When the eyes open too fast
So quick like a bullet she rose
And without a spare second, her mind goes
Up from the pillow, away from the sleep
She panics and gasps for air to keep
Startled by the theft of breath
This awakening is but a death
By the moons frightful thought
Because the empty stars forgot
She yearns now for what she is not
