A Tale of Two Tails

After a stormy and very wet night that left the river in spate and the fields flooded, it cleared away quite nicely, although it was very cold. Managed to get a few blips while out for my run, but nothing I was that happy with.

When the wind got up later it was definitely a day to find an indoor job, and there are still plenty of those. Ended up tidying up correspondence and emails and planning the days ahead. Being inside meant I could keep an eye on the bird table and I was delighted when a couple of Goldfinch appeared at the niger seed feeder. First we have seen in the garden this year, so they just had to be blipped.

I really wanted to capture them side by side as I think a pair of them face on look brilliant. I moved the feeder round 90 degrees, but when they did come back it was quite cloudy and they weren't for sitting together. In fact they had dislodged so many seeds from the feeder that they, along with the Siskins and some Chaffinches were now happily feeding on the ground.

Just have to settle for a side view of one and the tail of the other. To get two together face on is my challenge!
