The Gum

Well I finally made it to Moscow with Sandra just in time for my 100th blip so quite chuffed, so I am in the process of deciding which ones I will post for the remainder of our stay that will make up the rest of the weeks blips that we had in Russia and I will be going over all your blips for the last week and looking forward to it, anyhow this shot is of the shopping mall called The Gum which is on one side of Red Square and the Kremlin is on the opposite side, the only words I can describe this mall by is a rich persons playground even speaking to some of the locals that can speak English is that it is getting that you are starting to get a western style feeling to it where the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer on our travels around Moscow over the week It really hit home to see so many old women sitting on the pavements/sidewalks still selling what ever they were selling in the cold they were struggling to even get up and I thought to myself that could be my mother as most of these old girls must have been in there late 70's/early eighties and it should not be happening in this day and age but I did find most people very friendly indeed so this is my first of six catch up blips from last week and I will be catching up with all yours over the next couple of days as it is back to work Sunday
