Music is not everyone's food of love.

I had to go to Kyle tonight (and tomorrow night too), and although the journey is long (around 2 hours), I always get a nice welcome on board the ship. I have a lovely dinner, sing for an hour to an appreciative audience, and I am never as tired on the way home. I have to be careful of the deer on the road, however. There was the added complication of torrential rain tonight.

I had a bit of a laugh on the way to the gig, however, and thought I would share it with the few of you who may read this.

Just past the Strathcarron Hotel, I happened to catch a glimpse of something in the ditch at the side of the road - it looked like a black case. I turned the car around, and found to my astonishment that it was a violin case, complete with violin! What to do with it, though....

I went back to the hotel, and was just starting to explain to the bar person about my find, when I heard a woman shout behind me "SEONAID!!!" When I turned round, I saw a couple with their wee girl sitting in the bar - the wee girl had her head down, and mum was glaring at her in horror. It turned out that young Seonaid, who had been wanting to give up the violin for some time, decided to take matters into her own hands. While mum and dad were otherwise occupied, singing loudly along to some of their music in their 4x4, Seonaid heaved the violin out the window.

Although I was offered a drink, I explained what I did for a living and that I was on my way to a gig. Looking at the unhappy lass, I said that if you stick in with the practice, you could make some pocket money later on. The 10 year old was not impressed, and glowered. So, I said to mum and dad, that it would seem that there was no point in flogging a dead horse, and that perhaps she should be allowed to have a break from her musical studies....

At last, a hint of a smile from the wee one.

One or two folks in the car park gave me a few funny looks when I roared with laughter heading back to the car.
