The Museum
Just back from Berlin.
This was taken on the last day at the Jüdisches Museum. An astonishing building. Some floors are fairly "conventional", tracing the history of Jews in Germany since medieval times. But the lower floor, immediately upon entry, is the most thought-provoking. There are 3 long corridors with the themes of Continuity, Exile and the Holocaust, where the the architecture and exhibits are designed to stimulate your emotions and physical reactions rather than just present you with facts and information. It works brilliantly.
We had a great trip. Berlin is absolutely fascinating. We try to take the boys to a different capital city every year but quite frankly I would like to see more of Berlin because I got FOOD POISONING! Courtesy of some seafood that had clearly seen neither the sea nor a freezer for some considerable time. So a day was lost to staring at the hotel bedroom ceiling.
