Blasted forest

It's an almost apolcolyptic scene, and yet it is natural, insofar as the way forestry leaves felled forests could be described as natural.

Part of the starkness comes from the trees which seem stripped of bark, and from the geology of the area which has these ridges of exposed angular stone. What is surprising is that trees could have taken hold here in the first place. They didn't stand a chance in the last storm.

Today, being almost the end of my holiday, I took a very slow drive to Kilmory Chapel. I have never in some 25 years of living here, been on this road. It is spectacular, especially on a day like this.

Thing is, I had the tourist board approved shots looking across to Jura. I had the historical shots of clearance houses. I had partner pleasing shots of lambs. I went and chose the end of the world photo! All paperback psychiatrists out there can send me their analysis on a ten pound note, thank you.

Personally, I just like the unusual!
