Red-crested Pochard

Today was our last before our flight home tomorrow. So we didn't venture far, in fact going twice to a park on the outskirts of St. Martin de Crau (about 5 minutes from our gite not far from Arles). N.B.: For the first time I've used the location feature, zooming in on the map to pinpoint it within about 50 meters, I would guess. The main feature in the park is an extensive grouping of mostly exotic ducks and geese; there's a small pond and accessory canals, giving them plenty of space.

This male Red-crested Pochard (Netta rufina) is the duck we've most frequently seen in our two weeks here (after the ubiquitous mallards, of course). Many species of ducks winter in the south of France, but most migrate north by the end of March.
