Amaryllis
I left work with the sun shinning and had vague thoughts of pottering in the garden for a while. I arrived home under grey (very dark) clouds and thunder and lightening and the grass white with a layer of hail. Definitely not going out in that, I am a fair weather gardener (or chief gardener's helper).
Fortunately the Amaryllis did not let me down. I have been waiting for this to open up for a few days. Over the winter I thought it was dead, while others were showing off beautiful flowers this one did nothing. I took it out of the pot recycled the compost and somehow left the bulb on the side. one day we noticed that there was a green shoot so a new pot and compost were found and the bulb planted. It got watered every now and again and still survived. We now have one long stem with 4 flowers and what could be a new plant coming.
I love the pale flower and the green darker in the middle and fading to the end of the petals.
Off to light the wood burner now.
