Bristolwood and Beyond

Welcome to Downtown Rochester

This afternoon found me in Rochester, New York. I was in the "Historic Cascade District, to be exact. And, of course, this in and of itself was an opportunity for me to wander about for a bit.

I walked down Cascade Drive, just off Main Street, and was so happy to discover the above scene. The funniest part of the photo is the fact that as I was focussing, a big train with lots of ugly black tankers came barrleing into my photo! Ah well....

What is profound about the photo and of interest to me, is the large building in the background. It is the Kodak Building. I wonder just how many of us began our love of photography with a Kodak camera!

Rochester used to be all about Kodak. Everyone I met either worked for Kodak or had family or a friend who did. It is sad to think that so much of this corporation now stands idle...a big inept giant standing idle and casting a dark shadow full of memories over the city.
