Farewell but not forgotten
This is a photograph of the Church of the Holy Rude in Stirling, Scotland. It's a very old and very famous church (Google it and you will see).
It's siginficance today is that one of our closest friends - my wife's best friend in fact - passed away in hospital late in the evening on Easter Sunday. She had been in hospital for a while now. She was a choristor at the Holy Rude. Her father was in the choir there for over 55 years and our friend sang in the choir there for 46 years (or more). So a combined total of over 100 years of singing in the choir at this Church. Amazing.
We were so sorry to see her pass away at quite a young age. She has no surviving family apart from one cousin. We will be organising the funeral for her at this Church. I hope it will be a fitting tribute.
A sad day and a sad year so far as my wife lost her father in February after a short illness.
What a gift from God each new day is and how we need to learn to make the very most of each one whilst we have our time in this world.
