Not Aunty Tamara's Cake

It's the fennel instead, and a much more subdued shot of it than I originally had.

Mum's up and helped me decide on the processing here - much more tasteful than what I originally had :)

We were celebrating Mr C's birthday, and had shots of the AMAZING cake. Aunty Tamara's Meringue Torte - an old russian recipe. 3 cups sugar, 13 eggs, 250 gm butter, 2 1/2 cups cream, 1/4 cup brandy. Piped meringues layered with brandy butter cream followed by whipped cream, over and over, then drowned in the last of our raspberries. Made by Alex and Zoe, it's a special occasion cake, that's for sure.

But we went with the fennel after all.
