Black and white
East Yorkshire really is a beautiful place you know and a well kept secret! Shhhhhhh!! Went out for lunch with my parents and my Dad's brother and his wife and very nice it was too. Then we decided to head home via the scenic route through Thixendale.
This is sheep country - the sides of the valleys being too steep to cultivate. There are many hidden 'dales' in the folds of the Wolds, magical places; places in which the veil between this time and the past is very thin.
We were headed to the gallery of Robert E Fuller - a locally well-known wildlife painter and campaigner (he will be on Countryfile tomorrow night exposing the shame that is badger baiting) I personally am not a fan of most of his art though I can see why his paintings are popular. I did, however, find a print which was so unlike his usual style that I had to buy it. May take a pic once I've got it home and framed.
Easter Day tomorrow will find us up early for a sunrise service at a local farm. It starts at 5.45 in the morning, which always feels slightly mad but it's generally worth the effort. We ARE compensated with a fabulous breakfast afterwards though!
P.S. Must acknowledge the help of my mentor Welsh Si in this. Apparently this effect is a vignette!!
