The ZimPride 2012 Tournament

My 2 ex-soccer coaches and a couple of my old teammates were over from Perth to play at this tournament and I came down to catch up with them today. My intense love for this game and whatever skill I have was a big part due to Richard (a Zimbabwean) and Tom ( an Aussie). They saw me playing during my second season and took me under their wing. I remember Richard telling me "you can run fast with the ball but your problem is you run in the wrong direction!" Lol. I'll never forget that and of course it was a bit of an exaggeration on their part but they did work hard to make me a better player even having a 2 hour session with me, 2 coaches and my lonesome self, during a hailstorm (that never came) to work on my big kicks and although it was hard work, i can't remember a time when i enjoyed myself so much despite the pain and exhaustion. Those were the days. I know it's unlikely that I'll ever move back to Perth but that year was one of the best.

This is one of their boys in the yellow shirt. I was hoping to shoot my female teammate who was the only Zimbabwean girl playing in the entire tournament, don't know how she managed that, but the boys were just too greedy with the ball and she never got the chance to score the winning goal. Too bad. Watching these boys play today brought back my yearning to get back into the game. Soon!
