Rocking rolling riding out along the bay....
But maybe not for much longer....
Maybe you could put me right on this.
This is the road to the Station Car Park and the Golf Course (one of the five or six in Town). It used to be the main road from Barassie out on to the road to Kilmarnock. When the houses were built on either side - they diverted the traffic from the estate to a fly over, and closed this road off at the estate side.
On Tuesday, a lorry, probably delivering to the Golf Course, didn't look at the bridge ahead of him, and whack. Hit the bridge.
What you can see is the platform, which is normally horizontal, pointing out towards you. I've taken this shot before, and the barriers were perfectly horizontal. On the platform itself, there are barricades up, to prevent passengers standing on this part, and notices up for the train drivers to stop the train before this point.
Yes, you heard me right. A notice to stop the train from stopping on this bit. Passengers can indeed alite the train before this point, and then the train will move off, slower than normal, but it does move off, drives over the top of this slightly wobbly bit, and carries on its merry way.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure everyone would be complaining if they had to get off the train onto a bus, and then ferried to another station, but seriously? Is it not going to fall to the ground just because the train is driving slowly over the top?
