Two Mommies
I drove out to a Tucson park, just to wander around. I wanted to go somewhere pleasant and get some fresh air on this cool morning. I didn't have my good camera with me because I wasn't really looking to blip.
But then I ran across two women, a young boy and a cute cocker spaniel tossing around a frisbee. It looked like they were really having fun. I sat on a bench and watched for a while. They came back toward me and we struck up a conversation.
Maria and Joyce were partners and Glenn was their adopted son. Technically, Maria's son. But to them they were all one family - with two moms.
Maria was an occupational therapist and Joyce was a third grade teacher. Glenn was eight years old and on Easter vacation. So mom and mom each took the day off to spend quality family time together.
They asked that I didn't take their pictures so I shot their bikes. Next they were off to the zoo to see the new elephants.
They were one of the happiest and caring families I've ever met. I was glad that I did.
