Talybont
A more restrained walk, or rather two. We started off (after another filling full on breakfast) to Llandovery. Llanymddyffri, or Llandovery means 'church among the waters. It is true Llandovery is surrounded by three rivers, the Towy, the Bran, and the Gwydderig. It is a market town that still has a medieval feel to it, and is steeped in a very mixed history.
Our walk took us out along farmland and back in alongside the Towey. That is until the footpath came to an ubrupt halt where it had collapsed into the river and it was impassable. So we went back the way we had come and decided that was it. A nice enough walk but none of the drama (or steepish climbs of yesterday).
Later we headed to the Talybont reservoir, it is about 3km long and at one end is this placed about halfway along a 380m dam. This acts as the inlet to a turbine providing about 25% of the electiricty needs of the village. I could get rather nerdy now but will simply say the distance between the surface of the reservoir and the turbine house is about 24m.
I like the symetry and the reflections in the water of this. It could do with being a little lighter but I don't know how to do that on this machine.
