Life through the lens...

The robin

Our robins are quite clever now and can easily balance on the bird feeders.
We had three in the garden today. Two chased off the intruder. I think they may be building a nest near by.
As snow is forcast for tomorrow, this robin reminded me of the old nursery rhyme ( British and believed to have originated in the 16th century)

The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
And hide his head under his wing, poor thing.

Hope the snow doesn't last too long, and kill the early blossom.
The whole countryside and also the towns are looking nicer than I have known them for a long time. The cherry trees and blackthorn are covered in flowers, which shine out, even with out the sun. There are masses of daffodils everywhere, thanks to the Council planting them a few years ago. Just beautiful.
( I think they look so good this year because we haven't had any rain or wind to spoil the flowers.)

In my haste to back blip the wedding yesterday, I forgot to mention where they were married.
It was the beautiful little old church of St Oswald in Collingham, Wetherby.
Although much altered in 1840 the church building is thought to be Saxon.
Much of the stonework of the nave and chancel pre dating the Norman Conquest of 1066.

Early blip today as we have our monthly wine club meeting.
Tonight we are tasting Chilean wines.
Will let you know tomorrow what they were.
