An Annual Parade

There is a parade in Scarborough each year of Orange Lodges from all over the United Kingdom.

It starts and finishes on the seafront and in between it passes through the town centre.

Bands (lots of drums). Flags and banners. Uniforms, sashes and smart but dated suits. Mainly men but some women and some children. Serious marching and serious faces.

To the joy of some, the displeasure of some, and the bewilderment of many, including at least one local Traffic Warden who was at a loss to explain to puzzled tourists what it was all about. (According to one news report this annual march commemorates Lord Louis Mountbatten).

Anyway I happened to be shopping when it happened so I took this shot from the first floor window of a local charity shop.

PS I have now backblipped for Thursday and Friday
