Little Monsters Love Water
Little monster getting sprayed in the shower.
Still undecided as to Canon 5d3 or Nikon D800. Everything for the 5d3 is still unopened except for the camera battery and kit lens. All kept ready to return if the vote goes more D800 way. I may making sure the the 5d3 doesnt get marked in anyway to stop it looking brand new. I have to take less than 200 shots with it before I return it so I am cant just really let rip and truly test it.
Its such a tough decision. If Canon had made a camera with the D800 type sensor there wouldnt be a decision to make. The 5d3 is a great camera. Brilliant in low light, fast, great AF system good weather sealing.
The 5d3 would be my choice for hand held shots, kids shots and street shots but what I am really upgrading to full frame for is to improve my shots on a tripod at ISO 100. I want more detail so I can blow up even bigger and have more dpi when I do.
The D800 is basically a baby version of the medium format cameras I would love to be able to afford but never will. The D800 is a good medium, going towards medium format detail and dr but keeping the hand held dslr side too.
The problem with the 5d3 is that it just isnt that much of a leap from my T2i when it comes to properly exposed shots on a tripod at 100 iso. Its a bit sharper and has less low iso noise in the shadows but the D800 can add that extra detail. The big problem there would be having to sell all my Canon glass and buying new Nikon glass. I am very happy with my Canon lenses, I have picked the ones that are great value as well as great quality, the 70-300L in particular is my favorite. Canons lens lineup seems better to me, alot more clearly named, when get a Canon L lens you know you are getting good build quality as well as good optics. I am just as sure of the Nikon lenses.
Basically I want both cameras for different reasons thats what makes choice so hard. And with the money these things cost it really want to make the right decision!
Update: noticed after posting the blip from a year ago... The fox in the snow, I remember how wintering it still was when I took that shot... wow this year the weather really been different.
