Kitchen - Onwards and Offwards

Today I start on the kitchen! Real downhill feeling to Rancho Gordo now as jobs are starting to come together.

A bit more drywall went up today, with my ever slow drywall chap. He's a nice enough chap, but very chilled. Think he got a bit of a conscience from last week so he was onsite long before I was this morning.

Not that it matters as I have to prepare the kitchen first. When he is drywalling, he can refinish the kitchen walls.

As per normal there was a last minute change of plan - which turned out quite fortuitous. Instead of taking out the old lower cabinets - leave them in place and just cut the backing board away instead. Which turned out to be the right choice as the kitchen is totally handbuilt and custom - it wouldn't have come out (nicely).

Bit of an issue with a bit of mold on the surface of one of the walls, but that will be killed tomorrow before we continue. Mold is easy to kill - just about anything other than water will kill it - and yet most people never bother as they never see it.

Tomorrow the bare walls get sanded smooth ready to be mudded (where needs be), and then the cabinets go back up. But...before the cabinets go back they have to be stripped......uhoh...
