FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS

Skipton's Town Crier waiting to do his stuff on the town hall steps this morning. He won a competition last October as the Best Town Crier in Britain.

I had spotted him walking into the town hall and followed him, hoping for a blip. He went into the arts and crafts fair so I followed. Big mistake. I lost him, and came out with a £20 framed photograph of a bicycle taken in Italy. Such is life.

Fortunately he was outside on the steps afterwards so I still got my blip, and I think a better one than a furtive snap between the craft stalls. What a cheery chap.
