Great Cormorant

Brisk afternoon walk down past Muirtown Basin Marina to the railway swing bridge over the Caledonian Canal and then back the other side. This bird was on the very last of the marina pontoons surrounded by various gulls. It gave me a chance to use and test the maximum (optical) focus on the SX40HS. Don't really like the handling of the camera or the way you access various functions but it's certainly versatile if you're just going for a quick trip with a single camera and no other lenses. Also not pocketable and doesn't offer RAW.
