First of the season

2years 142days

Been such a good day today!! A lot of day - in what we've done and in its duration. Someone decided that 4.05am was a good wake up time. That someone wasnt me! But we've packed lots in so noone had time to think about being tired.

We started out going to play with Vic and the children. I say to play - Katie and the children played toys, the mummies played photos. We respectively all had lots of fun!

From Victoria's we went to meet my parents and all headed out for lunch with Uncle Simon and Alicia. Katie was on fine form, and ran to him from across the park where we met him (another lovely photo). We had a nice carvery lunch before Simon and I felt the appropriate next step was ice cream. We walked down through the gardens to the Foreshore. Katie wanted to go on to the beach. A little paddle by that time had crossed my mind. It seems Katie's plans were a little more extensive. Quite a big paddle in fact. The first full dunking of the season to be specific. She loved it. Even after getting soaked through, she was still splashing and playing with me.

We went to the Harbour Bar for ice creams - she had her first pink ice cream cornet. First cornet of the season too! I got her a new outfit, since swimming hadnt been quite in the outfit selection plans for the day. Such a glorious afternoon. Her, Simon, Alicia and I walked back to the car to take them to their hotel, before meeting back up with Granny and Grandad.

The final destination of the day was the first birthday party for my gorgeous niece, Maria-Sofia. Katie was brilliant. It was the first time she's seen my dad with four of his other grandchildren, and coped really well. My parents had a lovely time with Katie and the two youngest grandsons in the soft play for quite a while. She was great about me cuddling Sofia, paying the boys attention and even sharing me with my camera. She had a lot of fun. When it came to time to leave, it was heading for bedtime, so I put her in jammies before the car. "I want to go home find my bed now, Mummy" she said. I knew how she felt!
