Lovelly water this!!!

Thirty five kilometres from its source in the Pentland Hills, the river travels through the villages of Balerno, Currie, Juniper Green and Colinton into the heart of Edinburgh, passed Murrayfield and Roseburn onto Dean Village, Stockbridge and Warriston and on to its mouth with the Firth of Forth in Leith. A small but dramatic river with a fascinating history and exciting wildlife.
Yes we are talking about the Water of Leith, enjoying a rebirth with grants from the Millenium commision and others.
The Port of Leith saw a massive decline after the war and reached it's all time low by the 1970's.The river by this time was as polluted as a river could be, but the old Burgh of Leith's moto "Persevere" is not for nout, as the 1980's largely thanks to high house prices saw people coming back.
The Port is now a terrific place again with nice bars and restaurents and of course it's greatest asset the Leith'er, who is nearly as nice as a Portobello'er.
