What are We?

Took a walk down the canal this morning and saw a couple of Sparrows and one Yellowhammer. I said to Mrs YR " We get more birds in the garden " . On our way back to the car we spotted a Red Kite circling above us....I think it thoought that our little dog would make a lovely meal. Watched it for about 10 minutes, a beautiful sight. Walked back to canal head and saw this pair on the grass...What are we?
