I can dance tango..kind of
Today we had Spanish classes in the morning which have been pretty boring. We're doing a history/architecture topic at the moment and learning ridiculous vocab that I will most likely never use again, ever.
Afterwards we met Sharoll and Ivan and went for lunch in one of the many cafes in our area of Sopocachi called Kuchen Stube. It was the same place that we went to on Wednesday for a 3 course lunch but this time they were serving a vegetable bake thing instead of gnocchi which I was well pleased about. Although, we've decided that this cafe is clearly vegetarian as there never seems to be meat on offer, so I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
That night we headed to the Casa Argentina for a tango milonga. Helena's writing an article on tango in La paz so we had to fully immerse ourselves and so far it has mostly been good fun. I didn't think I was going to the milonga as I totally didn't feel ready but in the end I thought I might as well. When I arrived I was freaking out about dancing and quite a few glasses of wine were consumed before dancing of any sort took place. In the end I danced with the instructor twice and with Rodrigo my flat mate, which is more than I thought I'd end up dancing! However, it doesn't sound that impressive compared to Helena's 9 or so dances. She was definitely a favourite with the older men haha.
After the tango cooled off they began to play salsa music. Rodrigo convinced me he could dance with me and Helena at the same time so all of us headed to the dancefloor but in the end my goofy dancing showed and I ended up elbowing him in the face. Definite cue to leave...we went to meet Sharoll at her friend's party which was in such a posh, beautiful flat. We stayed there dancing and drinking until the early hours of the morning. An unexpectedly late but enjoyable evening!
