The Sporting Capital
Well, Sydneysiders might disagree, but in this shot are the MCG, home of test cricket and AFL finals and in the foreground, the blue tennis courts and the Rod Laver arena which ae the venue for the Australian Open. The area also boasts the Rugby League teams ground , and (behind the tower I took this from) is the route of the Australian F1 Grand Prix and the Aquatic Centre.
This picture was taken from the viewing platform at Eureka 88. The Eureka building is said to be the tallest in the Southern hemisphere and the views from the 88th floor are spectacular! It was really difficult to pick a blip today!
The lift travels up to 88 at 9metres per second (roughly 20mph, if my maths is still ok). You are then 280 or so metres above the ground. For the brave (or stupid), and for an extra payment, you can go onto (into?) the Edge, a glass cube which hangs out over the side of the building. I declined this adventure... I thought I'd suffer enough from the height as it was, in fact I was fine... so why do I have problems with ladders and the like?
Only a few days left now so it's time to do the shopping that hasn't yet been done and maybe visit an exhibition or two.
