Crufts

I hate this time of year. It's 'Crufts' again! I'm made to sit in front of a screen and watch while very clean, very groomed, very obedient dogs, pose around doing very clever things.

This is when pedigree, snobbish, 'goody two shoes dogs', prance around a ring looking like models??!! They've all had baths, they've all been groomed, they've all been 'blow dried' and they are all on their very best behaviour.

'Crufts' is the 'biggest event in the dog calendar'.

I can't join in because I am NOT a pedigree dog.

Actually, I don't want to go to Crufts anyway?! Anyone who knows me will know that I am a dog with 'personality'. I'm very clever and I can do all the stuff that 'Crufts' dogs can do. The only difference is; I don't have a long string of letters after my name?!

However, there is one dog at 'Crufts' that I really admire and that is Roo. Roo is a 'PAT' (pets as therapy) dog. He's fabulous and he's won loads of awards.

I once applied to be a 'PAT' dog.

When my owner, Ann, first adopted me she used to take me into a nursing home to see her Gran. Even though I had lots of problems myself I was a very good girl when I went visiting. All the old people & staff loved me........................ So a few years ago Ann got me all the 'official forms' to become a 'PAT' dog. I was looking forward to doing some good work and visiting some old people who didn't have a gorgeous little collie like me.

However, the application form that Ann had to fill in for me was very detailed and she didn't think that I would pass the selection criteria. At the time she was very mad and said it was, 'political correctness gone crazy'. Unofficially, I could go into a nursing home and give pleasure to lots of people because I was visiting Ann's Gran. But when Ann's Gran died, all of a sudden I was deemed not responsible enough to be a 'PAT' dog?!

Anyway enough..................................my owner could rant about this forever!

This is a 'Crufts' blip.

I hate 'Crufts' but I love Roo.

OK so Roo didn't win at Crufts but we still think he's a little star!
