Gotcha!
I was so happy to see that, for the third year in a row, the moorhens are back but there's no sign of a nest yet. They build them by folding down reeds and, as far as I can tell, once the eggs have hatched they move the chicks to a new one. They produced five eggs last year resulting in three chicks but they are very elusive and difficult to get a photo of. This is dreadful quality but it's the best one I've managed so far.
I went back down to the pond this afternoon and there they were. They seemed to be foraging around the pond rather than building a nest on the pond. One even popped out from under what amounts to a compost heap and I hope they're not building in there as there were three of nextdoor's semi-feral cats sitting on the top, biding their time!
We also have probably about 40 frogs as well. I tried to put a picture in my Blipfolio but I can't figure out how to do it - any help gratefully received!
I've put some pictures of the frogs in my Blipfolio. Many thanks, Naturelover!
