Julie Felix, Songwriter, Dreamweaver, Goddess
I took this blip last night with my camera phone hence the poor quality.
I helped out with the box office at the Civic Arts Centre last night for the Julie Felix performance. I've had a busy week and was feeling quite tired; I felt that I needed to go home to relax before the performance started. However, I decided to stay and watch Julie, and wow, I am so glad that I did, what a woman!
After the show I asked her if I could take a photo of her for my photo blog and she happily posed for me and we had a lovely chat. I told her that I thought the songs she is writing now would speak to women of my generation and younger; we talked about the 'Goddess Tours' she organises and we then both realised we were wearing goddess pendants made by the same silversmith.
She is 73 and had so much energy, passion and exuberance. She is one of them women who is brimming with light and it shines out of the pores in her skin, from her smile and her eyes. She played to an intimate crowd and told us the story of her life through her songs. She wove music, word and sound into magic for us.
I'm so glad that I stayed to watch her performance and I will definately be going to see her again.
