Fisherman's friend

I love the simplicity of this winch and its cogs, which has probably helped loads of fisherman and others haul their boats up the shingle beach.

At first I thought it was so rusty that it was redundant but there was another one on the beach being used so I guess not.

On my amblings in the glorious sunshine, I discovered a weird and wonderful mollusc that I've asked the Conchological Society of Great Britain and Ireland to identify for me, as I couldn't find it on any website. It'll probably turn out to be another common as muck species but maybe not ....
